London’s hidden parks: green spaces across the city you might not have heard of

The capital has one of the most green cities in the world, with nearly as many trees per capita as Londoners and around 15% occupied by parks or public gardens. It is also the first National Park City in the world. London’s royal and common parks are well-known, but there are also some incredible hidden gems. Here are some of my favorite places to get some inspiration for your garden this weekend. Pergola West Heath, Hampstead HeathHampstead Heath is not a secret, but you will feel like Indiana Jones when you navigate through the woods at its northern fringe to locate the pergola. The Hill Garden, which overlooks West Heath, was designed by Lord Leverhulme, an industrialist. The gardens survived, though the house was demolished. It is worth taking the time to explore as they are much larger than they seem. It is open from 8:30am to one hour before sunset or 8pm, depending on when it is. The Isabella Plantation, Richmond ParkPA is a favorite among those who know about the plantation. You’ll find beautiful azaleas, bluebells, and purple rhododendrons in mature woodland at this time of the year. It is located in the southwest quarter of Richmond Park.Eden Nature Garden. Clapham. If you are lucky, the evening sun will make the tisabhe gardens glow in the evening. The garden is open from dawn to dusk. Postman’s Park in the City of LondonALEX MANCAUGHTONLocated just a few streets away from St Paul’s Cathedral, the green oasis offers a break from the concrete, steel, and glass of the financial district, the garden is a peaceful haven. The tranquil garden is surrounded by charmingly crooked trees that grow towards the sun. It is home to a variety of plants, including seasonal bedding, banana plants, and other shade-loving plants. The walls are made of recycled concrete and have winding brick paths that lead to quiet spaces for contemplation. It’s easy for people to forget that Oxford Street is only a few steps away. The shop is open from dawn to dusk.
