A piece of Hollywood history: Kirk Douglas’ Beverly Hills home sells for ?1 million over the asking price

Before Spartacus movie star Kirk Douglas was given a star on The Walk of Fame, he was busy creating his own piece of Hollywood history. He collected signatures from Hollywood royalty Elizabeth Taylor and Jane Fonda, as well as Michael Caine, Burt Lancaster and Jack Nicholson, on 22 slabs. Former US president Ronald Reagan, singer Frank Sinatra, and actress Anne Douglas are also household names. The family home was reportedly purchased by an orthopaedic doctor for $9.015million (?6.6 million), $1.52million more than the $7.495million (?5.5 million) asking value.
